I am incredibly excited to announce the launch of Rides For Lives! By shedding our previous identity as CA Bikes, we can fully dedicate ourselves towards our ambitious new mission, which is to save lives and forge healthy communities. By working with local residents and resources we build adaptive, cost-efficient emergency ambulances to bring health-care access to isolated people.

In many ways, we are still the same familiar non-profit organization. We still champion the Village Ambulance, our locally-sourced, locally-manufactured bicycle ambulance designed to transport patients from rural villages to hospitals and healthcare facilities that are often many miles away. To date, we have manufactured and distributed over 150 Village Ambulances, creating over 150 jobs and providing an incredible level of access to health-care, the likes of which rural Uganda has never experienced. And we are just getting started!

Beyond the Village Ambulance, we are developing new products, and technologies that have the potential to revolutionize healthcare in underserved communities. For months now, we have been hard at work designing and prototyping a Mobile Clinic, and a Moped for the disabled, both of which will bring hope and prosperity to communities in Uganda, and hopefully, the greater Sub-Saharan African region in the future.

For those of you who have been with us since the beginning of CA Bikes, I thank you so much for the incredible support and for making a small project that I started at UC Berkeley so much more than that. And for everyone else, we have the opportunity to create a healthier, more connected global community. Let’s do it together!

Ride on,

Christopher Ategeka
